about me
Hello there! You've reached the website of Danno, which is a contraction of his full name Dan Hanasono. Dan is always looking for ways to make communication more efficient like that.
Born in a blizzard, Dan grew up near corn and soybean fields in Indiana, but found a calling early in life to move and live as close to the Pacific Ocean as possible. Yes, Dan is a Pisces, he likes sea creatures, enjoys eating seaweed, hops around tidepools and secretly thinks he was a creature similar to sea otter mixed with a yeti in another life. And like a coastal creature, Dan has spent wonderful years living in San Diego, Vancouver (Canada) and now has planted his proverbial lighthouse on Los Angeles' westerly coast.
In Los Angeles, Dan took his ten+ years of work as a graphic designer and marketing professional and opened up a design studio right near the water. All activity is based near or around the airport in LA with his lovely wife and hilarious lolcat. *Whoooosh!*
That was supposed to be the sound of a plane dramatically flying overhead…
Graphic design was a calling to Dan, awakened by a trip to Japan where he was overstimulated and inspired by the graphic world that exists in places like Shibuya Station. In Tokyo, Dan started to conjure joyful memories creating signage for student elections in middle school, painting signs for school events, and messing around with fonts on his dad's work computer. Words on images. It has been a pattern in Dan's life to put words on images, and that is what he intends to do.
Graphics are everywhere, but when Dan isn't plunked in front of his computer, he likes to bike, cook, picnic, read, write, garden, pickle, can, preserve, bake, brew things, compost, document, travel, camp and socialize with buddies. See some of the professional organizations of which he is a member. Read some of his day to day ongoings. Drop him a note to say hi, or ask about a future project you have in mind.
